Black America's No. 1 magazines, EBONY and JET, served as the official print media sponsors of "The Tom Joyner's Family Reunion" recently held at America's No. 1 vacation destination, Walt Disney World Resort in Florida.
"Reunions are an important part of the fabric of the American family," said Joyner, host of the nationally syndicated radio show, "The Tom Joyner Morning Show."
"They're about reconnecting to enjoy each other's company with love, daughter and fun. And that is what this event is all about, "he added.
Families from across the country attended the first annual Joyner family reunion and enjoyed three days of entertaining, thought-provoking and uplifting events.
Entertainment was provided by a who's who of Hollywood. Among the many headline performers were Destiny's Child, featuring Beyonce Knowles, Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams; LL Cool J, Cedric The Entertainer, Maze featuring Frankie Beverly, the O'Jays, the Gap Band, DL Hughley, Lil' Romeo, Solange, Doug E. Fresh and the Get Fresh Crew, the Mighty Clouds of Joy, Kurt Carr, Dr. Bobby Jones, actor-comedian Mike Epps and music producer Steve "Sille" Hurley.
Joyner has long been part of the EBONY/JET family. Not only did Joyner enjoy a successful career with Johnson Publishing Company as an on-air personality of then-company-owned radio station WJPC, but he went on to become the first host of the nationally syndicated weekly television show "EBONY/JET Showcase."
